Warhammer European Open Day 2016

Hello everyone!

It has been a while hasn't it? I'm a real hobby butterfly atm and switched a lot between Age of Sigmar and WH40k so haven't managed to get stuff done and showcased on this blog. For now I'm working on the Tyrant's Legion again and want to complete a Leman Russ tank and a squad of Auxilia. I'll post an update soon but in the meantime, please check out my twitter account.

Anyway, to get to the topic, I went to the European Open Day on October 1st with a good friend. We had loads of fun and had great chats with the designers and painters. They were really open and friendly. I even had the chance to show off my Astral Claws to Mark Bedford (he has a huge Astral Claws army of 2000 points)! He was quite impressed with my work haha! *Ahem* alright, I'll stop bragging. ;)

Disclaimer: not all pics are mine. My friend kindly donated some of her photo's for this blog.

First up: Blood Bowl! They didn't have any new models to show off but had the box and it's contents on display. I had a quick peek at the sprue's and the parts are sliced up like you expect in any starterbox. The box also included a playing field with one side for the Orcs and the other side human themed.
We also had a chat with one of the designers and he said that the core rules will stay the same, but the game will be expanded upon á la Death Zone (from back in ye old days).

Next to the Blood Bowl table; some Hobbit goodness from the third and last film:

In the next room they had stellar (upcoming) Forge World releases:

The 'Eavy Metal painters and the hobby team had a separate room with so many beautifully painted miniatures. It was amazing. The painters gave me some tips and painting recipes and Aidan Daly (the dude who's painting masterclass is in this month's White Dwarf and gave a little demo on the open day too) told me that the 'Eavy Metal team paints the releases a year before they actually go into stores! So he was currently painting the new releases for October 2017 (he wouldn't tell me any details- sorry).

The other 'Eavy Metal bloke (forgot his name) had a fantastic Chaos army!

Next up: the hobby team. They had one superb converted Freeguild army for AoS! So many great idea's in there. Take a look:

Well that's it for this time! Like I said, we had a blast and definitely looking forward to next year!
